Irreversible in San Francisco

by Luminita Suse

that July Monday all he wanted
was to dive thoughts
into quiet blue

he vaulted over the rails and waited
for the fog to stretch limbs
around Golden Gate

it was freezing cold at lamppost 64
traffic droned behind him
legs heavier

policemen stopped pedestrians
from crossing the bridge
seagulls protested

by the time he dipped shadows
in liquid razors underneath
I took a picture

not fast enough to catch his
slump into the afterblue
in 4 seconds only
